The World of magic is sometimes strange and difficult to understand: even when you practice magic for years. Last week a magical door opened; and this little piece of knowledge causes worlds to open up. Conversations follow with people close by and far abroad. You will probably think: this is good, but not particular magical.
The breathtaking part of the story is, that simultaneously and out of the blue, magical objects start to appear. The little closet in my temple contains very few objects, and I regularly need something from it. Yesterday evening I opened the closet and there was sitting a little package in a box. I lost this box some years ago. I am absolutely sure that it wasn’t there before. This phenomenon is called an ‘apport’. I have seen it just a very few times in my magical career, and every time it happened it was a…

Workshop: The Basics of Astrological Magic and Talismans
Presented by Ariana Afsanay de Ly: Reverend High Priestess, Psychic and Traditional Astrologer
Register Today: https://squareup.com/dashboard/items/library
Date: 2014 July 5
Time: 3:00 – 4:30 pm PDT
Cost: $65.00 (contact me directly, please with any questions)
In this workshop we will be covering the basics of Astrological magic with a focus on discussing what is astrology, the ancient zodiac signs from Mesopotamia. We will also be looking at the star charts of Babylonian as… they are used even today when focusing on working with their influences in Mediaeval magic and talismans and how according to the Babylonian the signs were in the wheel prior to today’s wheel layout.
We will also be discussing the zodiac signs, colours and numbers associated along with the virtues, spirits and intelligence/s that rule them when working directly with a specific planet and seal.
Finally we will be looking at how we calculate the magic we cast by looking at the Witches Timepiece and planetary hours (lower magic) and the days of the week and the best hours to cast magic.
It is very important to have a basic knowledge and understanding of the celestial system prior to casting any magic, magic is from those realms of the invisible and when we do our work we call on the spirits, intelligences, the Gods and Goddesses which are directly above us in the planets that move throughout the heavens. When we do our work we are invoking the very nature of the Universe at the Mental level and if you do not know what you are doing, I think that say it all.
Location: Google Hangouts so you must have a Google acct to attend.
The Workshop will cost 65.00 per person and each person will receive a file of the topic to follow along, however, this will only be provided after you register and you shall receive your file the day of the workshop.
Payment options shall be posted on my website athttp://afsanaydely.com/, I do have the Square and will be having an online payment option for this amazing workshop.

I enjoy many visions in my journeys but the ones that hold the greatest impact on me are those that reveal the truths from between the realms. We have to be willing to open up our hearts and minds to the Truths in which are given to us, be it by our Gods, our visions, or inner self or through the vehicle of another person who holds great meaning in our lives.
We are all solely responsible for ourselves, our actions, or reactions. We are not responsible for anyone else, do… we have the right to do what must be done by rising Moon and Setting Sun to bring Justice to those who have harmed the innocent, Yes, that is the way of the Old Religion to send those who commit such evil crimes to the Abyss and leave them there for all eternity to never allow their spirit to reincarnate to this earth. In Ancient Egypt upon the one’s physical passing they must pass through the 42 Halls of Maat and face Maat, Horus the Avenger, Anubis and that of the scarab is placed upon the Scales of Justice, if the scarab which is the representation of one’s True Heart outweighs the Feather of Maat they are devoured by Ammut and taken to the darkest of depths and not allowed to pass into the Afterlife.
On this Summer Solstice this is a time of truth of the light revealing all those things hidden and a time to find healing from those truths and to accept. We all are living in the Modern Dark Ages, the Invincible Sun of Sol Invictus the Bringer of Light/Lucifer who is the true healer of all things brings us all a great Awakening and understanding to find and understand such knowledge and to move forward in our lives to a better place to leave behind those things that are toxic to us.
I find great joy in my path as a Witch/Priestess and High Priestess as I do the work and serve the Mighty Ancient Ones as I find conjunction in growing as a person as well and that of my connection to my Higher Self to move beyond all things.
We must love and give love, we are the ones who guide the way for those who seek to come home and who are remembering who they are, we are the Mother’s of the Old Religion let us do what must be done and protect and defend all the innocent as we know it is to be.
Many Blessings, a lot of fantastic inspiration on this day.
This was shared from an acquaintance I met some time back this is the land of my Ancestors Niall of the Nine Hostages and the lands my ancestors travelled through Galicia, Spain from many other European lands prior to them inhabiting and being the last invaders of Ireland after defeating the Tuatha magic.
This is the land of those of old blood and of the old soul.
Once again Mercury is in Retrograde and again, in the sign of Cancer, there have been a lot of emotions flying about, quarrels, influxes, miscommunication, assumptions without the facts and more. Mercury gets a bad rap and we have to remember there are 5 planets and then the Celestial Sun and the Luminary the Moon all of this goes into what energies are moving around. Also it may be that your chart does not have Mercury in this sign or in Retrograde, so the Retrograde will not necessarly affect you like others.
When Mercury is in Retrograde he is simply moving backwards a bit off from his normal self and yes it can be frustrating but we cannot always lay blame on him alone, we must consider all the other planets, are they in detriment, term, face, exaltation, triplicity are they with their natural enemy or are they in a good position, are they too in Retrograde themselves all of this makes for a good pot of cooking or a bad pot of poison, it makes for getting things accomplished or having them take some time, and of course holding off until a later date.
This is not the best time to be doing new contracts, negotiations, promotions, and anything to do with the signing or communication. If so you will come into some conflicts and feelings will be hurt and emotions will run high. With Cancer, Cancer being best when in the Moon sign of Cancer, it is emotional, feeling, psychic energy, communications with the Other-side, and those persons who are of hidden tendencies will reveal this face of themselves and it will manifest during this particular retrograde, as was the last Mercury Retrograde I wrote about. Last year his position was in the same place, which means he will fall in all the other water signs this year, he first was in Pisces now in Cancer and lastly in Scorpio.
Normally when Mercury is in Cancer he is very compassionate, though lacking patience and very intuitive and psychic by nature. He aids us in communication with the dead and those spirits and elements, it also aids in mediation and allowing ourselves to see into our own emotions.
Tempers will be high right now, as we also have to look at where Mars is, Mars is in detriment and with Libra which is ruled by Venus and the night side of Venus she reveals her darker side at this time. Saturn is in Scorpio and in retrograde as well, so here we have Saturn in trip and with his natural enemy so we have again more fire energy burning the earth this leads to aggression and angry situations will arise.
Through this retrograde I will be offering my Annual Readings at a discounted price, I will be offering them for $100.00 that is a savings of $30.00 from my normal price.
A great way to carry a talisman

I though it was time to share a simple pattern which is great for making magic and really shows off how weaving the magic physically can affect your spell work. This pattern is ultimatly adaptable, but as written produces a pouch small enough to wear daily and can contain a slip of paper, a dash or two of herbs, crystals chips etc comfortably and securely. Plus you can choose your yarn colours for its association with the focus of your spell work and take the time to stitch your intent into the pouch itself with spoken charms or unspoken intent.
This pattern is written for a four ply pure cotton but will adapt to other yarn weights and types. However you will need to adjust your hook size accordingly and be aware to keep your tension tight so that the contents remains secure.
I will write a separate blog post…

A Story Behind Aries

Aries is a crusader with a righteous vision of life. Wherever there’s a mission or cause to be fought for, you’ll find Aries, armour glinting in the sunshine. The Aries myth is all about the future and vanquishing the enemy, doing the noble deed with passion and adventure.

Today’s work in the kitchen consisted of powdering egg shells. Powdered white egg shell is traditionally used to draw outdoor sigils for offerings to spirits. It can also be used to line the edge of your circle for protection.
Wash each egg shell thoroughly and scatter them in a pan. Place the pan in the oven on low heat (120-150 degrees F) for about an hour, or until egg shells are dry and brittle to the touch.
With either a mortar and pestle or coffee grinder, grind up the shells into a fine powder. For a really fine powder I recommend the coffee grinder, otherwise for a chunkier powder the good ‘ole mortar and pestle works great. I chose the coffee grinder for this since my mortar is still covered in sandalwood and copal resin from the last incense blend I made.
Once the egg shell is powdered to your liking, store…

I came across this photo on Pinterest whilst cataloging the thousands of ways people are using Mason jars. Obviously, it caught my eye. I love the “Sit a Spell” signage above the pentagrams, but I also love these star planters, too. How easy would it be to nail a few together, wire a jar to the front, and hang them from a fence? I could also see using flower pots and planting something in them instead of the more vase-like Mason jar application.
This is an idea I’m definitely filing away for “When I become a homeowner…”

The broom is the one of those quintessential witchy items that stir the imagination. The earliest cleaning implement known to man, the besom is traditionally made from a staff of hazel with bristles of birch twigs. Every home no matter how rich or poor would have had their own which would have been made, and repaired, by the womenfolk of the house.
The idea of the broom being used to cleanse a space of negative is an ancient one, biblical even. Isaiah 14:23 states “I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts” and the image of the housewife beating unwanted guests from their front door is an old one in itself. Traditionally you would find a broom standing by the door, bristles pointing down, in order to protect the home from negative spirits.
The traditional besom woods have magical properties and associations with the…

Of all the things I remember about the time I met Maya Angelou, I don’t quite remember how we ended up shopping in Shreveport, Louisiana the day after she visited my college. As college friends post memories on my Facebook page of her visit, I have been trying all day to remember exactly how we ended up shopping and how she came to buy me this scarf.
I do remember that the process, the work of bringing her to campus taught me everything I needed to know about political maneuverings, regional pride, and, eventually, what is possible when an entire institution decides to do a thing right.
I got it into my head one summer that I should bring her to my small, private, mostly lily white, college in Northwest Louisiana. I’d read I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings in middle school in Biloxi, Mississippi when my father was…

I was recently in the remote Alaskan town of Barrow for an academic project. Barrow is profoundly different from any place I have been: at 71.3 N latitude, it perches at the edge of the Arctic Ocean. During April, when I visited, the ocean is frozen as far as you can see. The tundra is white and flat, and there is no vegetation. Most of the people who live there are Inupiat Eskimos. It is as far removed as you can imagine from Delhi, where I grew up, or for that matter, Boston, near which city I now reside.
I was wandering through the bright hallways of Ilisagvik college in Barrow, looking for someone with whom I hoped to speak, when I found an efficient young administrative assistant. She assured me she would find the person I was seeking, and took my name down. As is usual in…

I have been noticing lately a lot of posting that say they are coming from my email to the site that have nothing to do with the topics on my site. Please DISREGARD them, I am not posting them and when brought to my attention I delete them immediately.
My apologises to you all for inconvenience.
When I began reading this book it was last year sometime and going through a great deal of transformation in my personal life was making a lot of changes not only on the mundane level but on the spiritual and magical levels as well. I had given so much of myself of my mundane world and what needed to be done there I due to many hard events in my life avoided much of my magical workings.
A great article shared with me, do enjoy!!!!

My window looks out over a small harbour. Centre Rotterdam, a place of exceptional natural beauty. I hear the sounds of busy birds. On an old tree trunk, floating in the river two coots are building a nest. With the precision of craftsmen branches are put together into a curious building.
Where are the swans? I haven’t seen them this year. I am at the lookout for them, until suddenly the couple paddles into the harbour. Two? No young ones?
Suddenly the wings are lifted and splash, splash, splash … a row of feathered balls jumps of the back of mama swan, and land in the water. The parents guard the dangerous road to the big river. I watch how the chicks get swimming lessons. A jolly chaotic bobbing and twittering. The swans watch their offspring, and each other. Their necks form a perfect heart. In the heart I see…
